The first thing is to add a black set and a gray set. Also every team has to have a flat/matte black helmet and a white helmet, along with their traditional and their alternate colors. This will apply along with the jerseys and pants. Every team will have a home, alternate, white, black and gray shirt along with matching pants. Also, there should be something either bold or subtle feature that is specific to their team/university/city/town/state/conference. Obviously the newest technology will be involved as well. Since Vandy’s main color is black, we hope they do have a black set that will be their home set.
Let’s take a look…
Here are two videos from the event last night:
Helmet:
Traditional? Check
Black/Alternate? Check
White? Check
Gray? No
Vandy special? No
Shirt:
Home/Black? Check
Road? Check
Alternate? Check
Gray? No
Vandy special? “Anchor Down” inside the neckline. Anchor on the homeplate.
Pants:
Traditional? Check
Black/Alternate? Check
White? Check
Gray? No
Vandy special? V with a star on all pants
So they meet every point excluding a gray set, which is
nice. Overall, I am a fan of simple,
sleeve numbers, and the black/gold/white look.
I wish they would’ve kept the gold helmet stripes with the gold pants
(best oldschool look ever-light with dark outlining white (see: Browns,
Packers, Cowboys, Gators, LSU)), but I am a fan of the new set. I have also changed to the whole
alternate-should-be-a-little-different-than-the-home/away-jerseys so I see they
just left the shoulders dark like Navy and more recently Arkansas. Not a good look but you do what you can I
guess. The trend of going to more simple
designs seems to be picking up steam and once again, I am glad Ohio State and
other true powerhouses keep their shit clean and only break out a new design
once a year.
